Hi friends! I’m Scotlyn.
Birth Doula + Postpartum doula
MORE ABOUT scotlyn
I can’t wait to meet you! I’m a follower of Jesus, wife of 3 years to my husband Jaylen, mama to our sweet baby boy Apollos, and now birth & postpartum doula. I’m from Caswell County, so I grew up not too far from here, but we currently live in Graham, NC which we have been loving!
My belief in Jesus is so important to me and impacts everything I do. I came to saving faith in God truly as a freshman in college. I had learned so much about God as a child, but I ran from Him throughout my high school years and tried to chase satisfaction and validation in the wrong places. I’m so grateful that God redeemed my life and transformed me into a completely new creation (2 Cor. 5:17), and I can honestly say that who I am now is unrecognizable because of the work God has done in my heart and mind.
My hope and desire is that the transformative work of my heavenly Father would be evident in every role that I have in my life, whether in my home with my family, in my friendships and with my church family, or with my doula clients. What that looks like to me is that I would have a heart to serve, put others first, and be an example of unconditional love, patience and joy to those around me. And that is the attitude that I will try my absolute hardest to bring into your birth space, covering you in prayer and being a source of love & encouragement to you in one of the most sacred, beautiful, and vulnerable experiences of your life.
My passion for birth & the postpartum period began when I experienced my own journey of becoming a mother. I realized that our children’s births are some of the most important moments of our lives and have the potential to shape us, build our character and dependence on God, and impact our relationships with our children. My son’s birth certainly didn’t go as planned, but there was still so much beauty in it and it was absolutely life-changing. When I went through it, I could hardly believe that this is what mothers have been going through for centuries and that they are able to talk about anything else ever again!
Once I experienced postpartum — those long, dark nights with our little ones that need so much from us, the utterly shocking new reality that we’re launched into, the toll of sleep deprivation, and being filled with a love that is deeper than we can put into words — I knew I wanted to come alongside moms as they go on this journey and be able to offer support in any ways that I can. And my prayer is that I can steward this role well & be a blessing to every family that I have the privilege to serve.
