Birth is a life-changing event. We are with you every step of the way.

As your doulas, we are dedicated to praying for you, your baby, and your family during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. We believe that interceding to The Lord through prayer is one of the most powerful ways that we can support you on this journey.

Step 01: Consultation

Before you decide to hire us, we would love to meet with you for a free, no-obligation, virtual consultation.

You can ask us questions and pick our brains, then decide if our team is the right fit for you and your growing family. We support families birthing at home with a midwife, in birth centers, and in hospitals in Chapel Hill, Burlington, Greensboro, and surrounding communities in North Carolina. Additionally, if you hire us, you will have the opportunity to receive 10% off Placenta Encapsulation and Birth Tub Rentals.

Step 02: Prenatal Support

If you decide to hire us, you will have one or two in-depth prenatal meetings (in-person or virtual - your choice) with the two doulas on call for you. During the meeting(s), we will discuss your birth goals/preferences, answer questions, and talk about any concerns you might have.

  • We can help you write a birth plan and suggest books, articles, and videos that would be beneficial for you. We’ll discuss what comfort measures might be helpful for you in labor and give your partner tips for how to support you in early labor. This meeting will also be a great time to get to know one another so you’ll be comfortable with us. Our goal is to help relieve any anxiety you might have about your birth experience.

We ask for a $400 deposit to secure our services. The balance of $750 is due by 37 weeks. Once you hire us, we are available to you by phone, text, or email throughout your entire pregnancy. No need to save your questions for our meeting; we make ourselves accessible for those every day questions, concerns, etc. We are on-call for your birth 24/7 from 37 weeks to delivery. Though extremely rare, we will also utilize an emergency backup doula if we have a family emergency or illness that prohibits our availability.

Step 03: Birth Support

When your labor begins, your on-call doula will provide continuous support to you and your partner. While you are in early labor, we will stay in touch virtually (phone call, text, video) and will suggest a variety of comfort measures to you and your partner. We will decide together when it is the right time for your on-call doula to join you in-person. Sometimes we meet moms in their home before they go to the birth center or hospital; other times we meet at the birth location. This is completely up to you and we will play it by ear to see how you are coping.

  • We offer different comfort measures like massage, counter pressure, suggesting different positions, water therapy, TENS unit, and rebozo techniques. We will encourage you and your partner to stay nourished, hydrated, and rested. Your doula is with you for physical, emotional, spiritual, and informational support.

Sometimes birth plans change or get modified. We trust the birth process and will be there to help you process what is happening should something in your birth plan change, provide you with the information you need to make an informed decision, and encourage you to ask your care provider questions along the way. There is no time restriction or more fees if you have a long birth - we value that each birth experience is unique and want you to feel fully supported without having to worry about additional costs.

We can help document your birth by taking photographs/videos on a phone or your camera and taking notes to help you remember the details of your baby’s birth. After your baby is born, your doula will stay with you for up to two hours, if desired. During this time, she can assist you with initial breastfeeding, get food for you and your partner, help you to shower, or anything else that would be beneficial to you.

Step 04: Postpartum Support

After your baby is born, you will receive one postpartum visit with the doula who attended your birth. This visit will be in your home and usually lasts one to two hours. You also have the option to add on more postpartum visit(s). The postpartum visit is very casual and calm; please do not worry about how your house looks or when the last time you washed your hair was.

  • Your doula will bring a homemade meal during your postpartum visit for you to enjoy while meeting (or she can put it in your fridge or freezer for later). The postpartum visit provides an opportunity for you to reflect on your birth experience. Generally, when your doula is leaving after your birth, talking to her is the last thing on your mind (and for good reason… baby snuggles!). The postpartum visit is an opportunity to close out birth support and to open the doors for other support options that we can offer, or refer out for services that are beyond our scope. The structure of this visit is on your terms - every mom has different needs in the postpartum time.

During this time, your doula will also make herself available to assist with any household tasks that would be helpful - laundry, dishes, cleaning, holding your baby so you can rest or shower, etc.

We are also available through phone, text, or email as needed up to six weeks postpartum. And, we are available to you in the future to discuss your birth experience, help you find resources for parenting, and delight in your child’s growth and development.

Gratitude

  • "She really knows her stuff, and she was such a reassuring presence throughout the birth.

I felt much more at ease than I would have otherwise, and her guidance through the labor process helped me feel less anxious and better able to cope with contractions. She was invaluable. I was so thankful to be able to have a natural birth, which I was not sure would be possible."

    -Sarah W. (Greensboro, NC)

  • "Pregnancy can be filled with so many questions and uncertainties, but thankfully I had a doula for that!

Labor and birth can be filled with so many questions and uncertainties, but thankfully I had a doula for that. Postpartum and newborn life can definitely be filled with so many questions and uncertainties, but yep! Thankfully I had a doula for that, too."

    -Brianna H. (Raleigh, NC)

  • "I couldn’t have been more grateful for her support during this process.

She was with me through it all. She was hands on all night-providing counter pressure during contractions, encouraging me through each one, brushing my hair and braiding it as a very nice distraction, and was making sure I remained hydrated through it all. She was such a calming presence during a really hard labor."

    -Julianna J. (Greensboro, NC)

  • "Her level of care is next level. She wasn’t just there for the birth, she was there for the whole pregnancy and after the birth and celebrated with us each step of the journey.

Her support was invaluable. Her demeanor is one of gentleness and tenderness, but she is a strong advocate and knows how to navigate the birth world with commanding confidence to provide the best birth experience possible to her clients."

    -Whitney K. (Burlington, NC)

  • "The entire time, she was right there with me, entering into my most difficult moments with me.

Even though I felt like I was in the midst of a storm, her presence was so calming, reassuring, and comforting and it gave me the strength to hang on. Anytime I would tense up, she would help me to release and surrender. She was able to sense exactly how I was feeling and where I was at in labor which allowed her to give me exactly what I needed in the moment. I never needed to ask for a single thing. She just knew."

    -Melissa K. (Chapel Hill, NC)

  • "The way she stepped up & spoke to me in those hours were some of the most integral parts of my birth and I credit her for helping my baby arrive earthside a little faster.

I truly cannot thank Holistic Heritage Birth Services enough for standing by me in my most vulnerable, difficult, somewhat ugly but also beautiful moments of my life so far. I'm not sure what I would have done without her."

    -Jessica S. (Liberty, NC)

  • "[These ladies] assisted me through my second pregnancy and VBAC.

They were kind and sensitive to my trauma and anxiety from my first birth which resulted in an emergency c-section. I truly feel like having them on my side was instrumental in having a successful VBAC delivery."

    -Sarah F. (Elon, NC)

  • "I cannot emphasize enough how grateful I am for the invaluable role my birth doula played in my redemptive birthing experience.

Her professionalism, knowledge, and unwavering support transformed my journey into an empowering and positive one. I highly recommend her services to any expectant mother seeking compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated support during their childbirth journey. With her as your birth doula, you can rest assured that you will receive the care and guidance you deserve during this transformative time in your life."

    -Nichole D. (Burlington, NC)

Amazing experience and we now consider these ladies at Holistic Heritage Birth Services our doulas, our friends, and now our family. Thank you!"

    -Marshall M. (Liberty, NC)

  • "100xs over recommend this group of women!

From the get-go, the doulas were friendly, knowledgeable, and very obviously passionate about the business of birth. They were quick to respond through text to any questions I had during pregnancy and gave me lots of resources."
