Hi, friend! I’m Kayla
Birth Doula
I’m a wife, mama of six, homeschooler, and long time lover of all things pregnancy and birth. When I’m not at a birth, you can find me at home learning something new with my kids, or driving our big van to grocery pick-up, dance, or riding lessons— with an iced caramel latte in hand.
My journey into birth work began before I had children of my own. I completed my doula training and began supporting families through pregnancy and birth back in 2014, but over the years, the Lord led me into a season where most of my nurturing happened within the walls of my own home. I went on to give birth to five babies and welcome another daughter through foster care and adoption. I’ve spent more than a decade experiencing motherhood in ways that have stretched, humbled, and shaped me. I’m so grateful to return to the calling that captured my heart so long ago.
My own birth experiences have given me a deep appreciation for God’s incredible design of a woman’s body and the importance of feeling safe, informed, and supported while bringing a baby into the world. I have experienced five unmedicated water births, and through each one I learned something new about surrender, strength, and the kind of support a laboring woman needs—not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually.
Motherhood has broadened that perspective even more; our family has walked through pregnancy loss, difficult pregnancies, breastfeeding, foster care, adoption, disability, and medically complex parenting. These experiences have taught me that families don’t all arrive at birth—or motherhood—with the same story. I believe that there is tremendous value in meeting a woman exactly where she is, listening before assuming what she needs, and helping her feel confident making decisions that are right for her and her family.
After taking several years away from professional birth work while raising my own babies, returning to Doula work feels a little bit like coming home. I bring with me not only the knowledge that originally drew me to this work, but more than a decade of lived experience as a mother.
As your doula, I want to be a steady peaceful presence in the room. I love helping women understand their options, walking alongside husbands and family members so they feel confident supporting the women they love, and offering practical hands-on comfort when labor gets hard. I believe women are incredibly capable, that birth deserves to be treated with reverence rather than fear, and that sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer another woman is to simply stay beside her and remind her that she can do hard things.
It is an incredible privilege to be invited into the sacred space where a family welcomes a new life, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as you prepare to meet your baby.
