Hey yβall! Iβm Emily.
Birth Doula
MORE ABOUT emily
Iβm so glad youβre here! Iβd love to tell you some about myself, and my journey, as you make your way through your own.
Iβm a 26 year old, happily married woman, and mother to two girls. I was born and raised right here in NC. I have strong family ties and value family over almost everything. Iβm the third child of four, and we were all homeschooled growing up. Having siblings has been one of my favorite parts of my life. I wouldnβt be who I am without the typical fights and unbreakable bond between the 4 of us. I was raised in a God-fearing home and was saved by grace alone when I was 12. It has taken years, and some bumpy roads, to learn who I truly am and what Godβs purpose is for my life. Since becoming a mother, I have never been more confident in myself and joyful in the path God has me on. Iβm an extroverted extrovert. I joke that my love language is people because being in social settings genuinely fills my cup.
I married my husband in 2019 and we knew we wanted children right away. We got pregnant with our first, Bristol, 2 months after marriage. After lots of research, I knew I wanted to have a water birth. Ironically, my mother had a water birth with me at a birth center. She has strongly influenced a lot of my desires for my births. My mother, Amy, is one of my closest friends and is actually a part of this amazing team. I was blessed with a healthy pregnancy and was able to have a smooth water birth delivery at a birth center in Greensboro (which is unfortunately closed now).
I had read about doulas and knew Kristian as an acquaintance, so we hired her to be part of our team. She greatly impacted our delivery, and I know we all benefited from her support. Iβve considered her a close friend since then, and hired her immediately after finding out we were pregnant in the beginning of 2022. Things were a little different with our second baby, Claire. Iβve always loved the idea of an intimate home birth, and after having one child, we felt more secure about having a home birth this time around. I was able to deliver Claire in the peacefulness of our dining room in a water birth tub, surrounded by my birth team and family.
Since I was in high school, Iβve had an appreciation for natural things the way God designed. I have specifically had a strong interest for pregnancy and birth, always asking my mom all about her experiences and researching things on my own. Iβm confident in the miraculous ability that our bodies have to carry and deliver babies. My experiences of pregnancy and birth have empowered me and changed my life beyond what words could explain. While I was pregnant with Claire, I felt a strong pull on my heart to jump into this field of helping and supporting women the way I was. My desire as a doula is to show women how powerful they are, and help them enter this phase of life as a mother with joy! I am thrilled to get to work with Kristian and these other strong women. And I would be honored to serve you and your family in any way that you would allow. This is a precious time in your life.
